From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

American pop singer Miley Cyrus is due to release her latest studio album on June 22, according to an announcement posted April 26 on the singer's website. The album's first single will premiere on MySpace Music on April 30 at 12pm EST.

"Can't Be Tamed" is called a "self-empowering song in which Miley asserts that she has to stay true to herself in relationships." It will begin hitting radio stations on May 3 and will be available for download on iTunes on May 18. A video for the single is also due for release.

The album will come in two versions, one of which will be a combo CD/DVD pack including never-before-seen footage from Cyrus's 2009 international tour.

The star of the television series Hannah Montana, Miley Cyrus has reportedly sold more than 15 million albums worldwide. Her most recent full-length album, 2008's Breakout, topped charts in the US, Australia, and Canada, and held top ten spots in the UK, Spain, Italy, and Brazil.

Cyrus's scheduled upcoming performances include Rock in Rio in Lisbon on May 29 and Madrid on June 6, Good Morning America's Summer Concert Series in Central Park, New York and the Much Music Video Awards in Toronto on June 20, for which she will both perform and co-host. Cyrus stars in the film The Last Song, currently in theaters; she has said that she is likely to take a break from music following the release of the new album in order to focus on acting.
