Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Australian artist Meg Mac performed an amazing acoustic performance of ‘What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted', and you can watch it exclusively here on The Independent.
Influenced (quite clearly) by the likes of Sam Cooke, Mac (short for her last name, McInerney) was hand-picked by D'Angelo and the Vanguard to open for him on his Black Messiah tour, as well as with 2015 earworms Clean Bandit.
Nominated for two ARIA Awards for Best Female and Best Breakthrough Artist this year, she has since embarked on a sold out headline tour in Australia, along with a sold out London gig in October 2015.
This version "What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted" is everything an acoustic session should be: stripped down and powerful, with emphasis on Mac's beautiful voice and the simple, affecting piano notes.

'Roll Up Your Sleeves’ from Meg Mac's self-titled EP will feature on HBOs hit series ‘Girls’ in early 2016
