Your support makes all the difference.Dominican singer Juan Luis Guerra, Spanish pop singer Alejandro Sanz, Academy Award-winning Uruguayan composer Jorge Drexler, and Mexican trio Camila are among leading nominees for the 2010 Latin Grammy Awards. Nominations for the event, which is set for November 11, were announced on September 8 in Hollywood.
Now in its 11th year, the Latin Grammy Awards represent a large and rapidly growing area of the music industry. Current nominees are internationally diverse and include stars such as Enrique Iglesias, whose fames goes beyond the Latin music world; Latin superstar Guerra, who has reportedly sold 30 million records worldwide; and reggaeton performer Daddy Yankee, with three nominations in the Awards' urban music categories.
Nominated for four awards are Mario Domm of Camila (three with Camila and one for co-writing the band's hit "Mientes"), Drexler, Guerra, and Sanz; Daddy Yankee, Lee Levin, Tommy Torres, and Dan Warner each earned three nods.
Album of the year nominations go to Y by Spanish singer-songwriter Bebe, Camila's Dejarte de Amar, A Son de Guerra by Guerra, Paraiso Express by Sanz, and Cardio by the Panama-born singer Miguel Bosé.
Enrique Iglesias is nominated for song of the year for his track "Cuando Me Enamoro," which features Guerra; other entries in that category include "Desde Cuando" by Sanz; "Las Calles" by Ruben Blades, "Mientes" by Camila, and "Una Canción Me Trajo Hasta Aqui" by Drexler, who won an Academy Award for his song "Al Otro Lado del Río" from The Motorcycle Diaries.
The 11th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards, set to place place November 11 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, will be broadcast worldwide on the Univision Network from 8:00 to 11:00pm EST/PST. A limited number of tickets will be available for sale to the public beginning September 17.
