If 2008 was Amy Winehouse's year and Adele dominated 2012, then 2015 was truly all about Sam Smith, with the singer becoming the latest Brit to enjoy huge success at the Grammy Awards, walking away with four awards to his name on Sunday.
In his many acceptance speeches, Smith was candid in his revelations about what drove him to write the album and the difficulty he had in reaching this stage in his career.
Upon winning Best Pop Vocal Album, Smith said, "I just wanna say that before I made this record, I was doing everything to try to get my music heard...I tried to lose weight and I was making awful music. It was when I started to be myself that the music flowed."
Smith did not win Best Album of the Year. That instead went to Beck for Morning Phase. That title is seen as the Grammys' top prize and it was the first time Beck has won the award.
As Beck took to the stage to accept the award, Kanye West pretended to barge the stage and protest Beck's win, mocking his infamous moment with Taylor Swift a few years ago.
Elsewhere, Beyonce won Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song for "Drunk In Love" featuring her husband, Jay Z. Pharrell Williams won Best Urban Contemporary Album for Girl and Best Pop Solo Performance for "Happy (Live)."
Large-age gap duo Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga notched the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album award for Cheek To Cheek and the was more success for Brit acts with Clean Bandit wining Best Dance Recording for the ever-catchy "Rather Be".
