Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Music I'm totally hooked on Jay-Z and Kanye West's album 'Watch the Throne'. On some collaborations artists can sound like they're talking over each other but I love the way Kanye and Jay- Z sound totally together on this record.

Listening to it, it sounds like they're one person. More surprisingly, I suppose, I also love Adele's album '21'. I like One Direction's single, "What Makes You Beautiful"; it's actually really good.

Films I don't get to the cinema very often but I can't wait to see Rowan Atkinson in 'Johnny English: Reborn'. He's so funny as Mr Bean. When I was younger I used to love action films like 'American Gangster' and 'The Long Good Friday' (below), but my all-time favourite is probably 'Home Alone'.

Books I don't read much to be honest, but the last book I read and enjoyed was 50 Cent and Robert Greene's 'The 50th Law', the urban take on Greene's 'The 48 Laws of Power'. It starts by telling how 50 Cent learned this fearless philosophy in Southside Queens. It was really interesting to learn about everything he's been through as a rapper.

Comedy I really love Eddie Kadi. He's so funny and entertaining. Obviously he's African, so when he makes jokes about what his parents might say to him in certain situations, they're jokes that I can personally really relate to.

Television People might think I'm really behind but I have just got into 'The Inbetweeners'. It always makes me laugh and I can always relate to it. For each character I know someone just like them. I love the way that, as actors, they're not afraid to make fun of themselves. I've also been good at keeping up with 'The X Factor' this year.

Tinchy Stryder's new single, "Off the Record" is out 13 November. His UK tour begins on 9 November.
