This 25-year-old kid from Kent looks like he doesn't have a musical bone in his body, but his songs should make Pete Doherty tremble with jealousy. Beautifully lyrical songs that defy being pigeonholed as folk or indie – Tom Hull (aka Kid Harpoon) is in a league of his own. The guitar is his weapon of choice and he wields it as if it was an extension of him.

Together with his backing band, The Powers That Be, the Kid released 'The First EP' on Young Turks last week. Live, he audaciously covers Leonard Cohen's 'First We Take Manhattan', but he pulls it off with gutsy verve. If Kid Harpoon hooks you, it's for good.
