One Minute With... Kelly Jones, Stereophonics
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. Where are you?
I'm in London. I just finished a tour all over the world – and I'm recovering from last night.
What are you currently listening to?
A Mazzy Star album. The Kings of Leon album Only by the Night and Oasis's latest, Dig Out Your Soul. Noel Gallagher played us a few tracks in a studio a month ago.
Who is your favourite band?
It's always been AC/DC.
If you could have written one song, which would it be?
"My Generation" by The Who. It covers all bases of letting go.
What distracts you from work?
My two daughters, four and two years old – but in a very good way. Their innocence grounds me.
Who is your greatest inspiration?
Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Sex Pistols. Our band is a mixture of all those things, really.
The song that changed my life is...
"Simple Man" by Graham Nash – that was my dad's single
Who is your hero?
Jack Nicholson as there doesn't seem to be any vanity. He is sexy because he isn't hiding anything.
Stereophonics are touring to 20 December (www.stereophonics.com)
