Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

ODESZA have shared the video for their stunning track "Across The Room" ft. Leon Bridges which you can watch first via The Independent.

The track is off the duo's acclaimed record A Moment Apart, which debuted at #3 on The Billboard 200.

It's a beautifully uplifting song and the visuals from director Ian Schwartz accompany it perfectly.

Check it out below:

How did this collaboration come about?

We’d been fans of Leon since he put out “Coming Home”. We had a few ideas for songs that we thought would be a good fit for him, and reached out to see if he was interested in working together. When he came through Seattle, we set up at a studio and tried out a few ideas.

When we got to the instrumental draft of what would become “Across The Room”, it was obvious that was the track, and we knocked it out in about eight hours. Leon went back to Texas and recorded the final vocals to tape, then we finished up the production back home in Seattle.

What are you all listening to at the moment?

The new Four Tet album.

What are your plans for the rest of 2017?

We’re a few shows into our A Moment Apart World Tour, so mostly touring and working on our live show. Also working on building our label, Foreign Family Collective, with a few releases later this year.

What was the first gig you ever played and what’s been the best so far?

Our first gig was at the Wild Buffalo in Bellingham, Washington. It’s a small town in Northwest Washington where we went to college and started making music together.

We’ve had a lot of memorable shows, but just before our new album came out in September we headlined our hometown festival in Seattle, Bumbershoot.

To be up there with other artists like Lorde, and playing for our hometown fans, was really special for us.
