Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Sir Peter Blake might have been in the news recently for feeling sidelined by the Tate galleries, but hopefully having his own double-decker art bus will help to ease the perceived snub.
Tomorrow afternoon, as part of the Brighton Festival Fringe, the giant of pop art will be on board a bus parked in New Road, giving audiences a sneak preview of his new book, One Man Show, which examines his work from the 1940s to the present. You won't be able to miss it – it's big and painted with pictures of Superman, Marilyn Monroe and Minnie Mouse.
The inside of the bus, which will be decked out as a gallery and bar, will have prints from the artist's Replay portfolio on the wall.
Organisers Art Republic will have 50 preview copies of the book for sale (before its official publication on 27 May) at their Bond Street gallery, as well as passes to meet Blake on the bus.
After a day out in Brighton, the bus will be touring schools and colleges across the country, offering students the chance to have a go at printmaking. So Blake's graphic legacy can live on – one way or another.
