Music Box season 2 session #19: Billy Lockett
We brought strings into the studio for the first time
Northampton-born singer-songwriter Billy Lockett last appeared in The Independent when we premiered the video for his song "More".
His debut EP Burn It Down was released in 2016, then in September he played to a sold-out show at Bush Hall in London where he blew everyone away.
Inspired by composer Ludovico Einaudi and Radiohead, Lockett writes beautiful songs about love, heartbreak and self-worth.
We wanted to do something special for his Music Box session so he brought in a cellist and a violinist, and the result is just stunning.
They performed three of his tracks: "Burn It Down", "Who I Am" and "Hands Tied", and nailed it in one take.
Check out his session (above) and make sure you don't miss his performance in the stunning surroundings of Union Chapel in London on 15 February 2018 - tickets here.
