Q&A with Milburn
What are you listening to at the moment?
Timber Timbre - Sincerely, Future Pollution. This may surprise a few because it's quite cinematic and mid tempo but sonically it's amazing. It's like a dark and seedier version of Richard Hawley. I've also given 'Strange Hymns' by Neon Waltz a few listens. We played a festival in Scotland with them this summer and I thought they sounded ace live.
What are your plans for the rest of the year?
We have a UK tour in November and then we're straight into Europe for 3 weeks, including Poland in December. We didn't really think it through - best go winter clothes shopping. Really looking forward to it though.
What was the first gig you ever played and what’s been the best so far?
Erm. That was over 15 years ago but I think it was a friend's birthday at a church hall out in the suburbs of Sheffield. We played a full set of covers as we hadn't really written any of our own stuff by that point (we were only 14!). The best gig so far has to be the Don Valley show we played in the summer. We essentially curated our own day festival. To play in front of a field full of thousands of our own fans was probably the pinnacle of our time in Milburn so far.
