Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Malika is a London-based independent singer who draws on the soulful 90s R&B she grew up on; the likes of Whitney Houston, Brandy, Mary J Blige and Destiny's Child, with a voice to match.

She rose to wider attention on the Snakehips track "Falling" and has gone onto release the gorgeous track "Run", which appeared on her EP Songs About C.

More recently she released a new track, the stunning piano ballad "Black & Gold", plus a brilliant video for her song "I Live" which was premiered via The Independent in January this year.

After placing her on our Ones To Watch list for 2018, we invited Malika into the studio to perform renditions of "Run" and her biggest song to date, "I Live", which fuses contemporary gospel with those classic R&B vibes.

Her voice is truly something; she seems to hit those big notes without effort, and there's a real sense of fun to her performance style.
