Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Our fifth series of stripped-down sessions concludes with Scottish singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi, one of the biggest new artists of 2019.
The 22-year-old is currently pestering the UK top 10 again with his new track "Hold Me While You Wait", which follows his seven-week run at the top of the charts with single "Someone You Loved".
Both songs are taken from his debut album, Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, which is released on 17 May.
He also recently added a number of extra dates to his huge 2020 arena tour, which sold out in 10 minutes when tickets went on sale, and includes two nights at Wembley Arena in London.
This summer you can catch him performing at a number of festivals including Standon Calling in Hertfordshire.
Watch his Music Box session above, where he performs "Someone You Loved" and "Bruises".
