Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.British singer-songwriter Jade Bird is the latest artist to star in our fourth season of Music Box sessions.
The 21-year-old is one of the most exciting new talents to emerge this year – attracting new fans with witty, dynamic songs like "Lottery" and "Uh Huh".
We invited her back to the studio for a Music Box session after she blew us away with a Facebook Live video earlier this year. This time she performed three original songs: "Lottery", "Uh Huh", and her new single "Love Has All Been Done Before".
The Independent's video team has become very good at having all kinds of set-ups – from a full pop band plus backing musicians (Bastille) to a keyboard, cello and a violin (Billy Lockett) – and we've enjoyed them all, but it's a bit of a treat when an artist like Jade rocks up with her acoustic guitar and blows us away, no frills.
Watch her amazing session above, and make sure you try to make a show on her UK tour, beginning on 21 November at Electric Brixton in London, and also taking in dates in Manchester, Nottingham, Leeds and Exeter.
See all the latest Music Box sessions here. Music Box season 4 continues every Monday until 26 November.
