Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. If there's one thing guaranteed to make music fans nostalgic, it's anniversary albums and tours. Both The Killers and Keane are celebrating 10 years in music – cue best-of albums and special shows. The Las Vegas band, who played their first London show 10 years ago, are releasing Direct Hits on 11 November and to celebrate they are playing a one-off show at Hammersmith Apollo on 6 November. Fans pre-ordering the album from the band's online store before noon on Monday will receive a unique code allowing them to buy tickets from 10am on Wednesday, ahead of the general sale on Thursday. The Best of Keane arrives the same day – tonight they play a tiny homecoming show at Tunbridge Wells.
The stars who keep their fans waiting
Some gig-goers have been disappointed this year – by Plan B storming off early at Slane Castle, Justin Bieber showing up two hours late at London's O2 Arena and Beyoncé leaving them standing in a sodden V Festival field for 30 minutes. But I felt most sorry for the Philadelphia fans who didn't even see Drake on Saturday night. The rapper reportedly blamed "technical issues" for cancelling his show. But to do so an hour after he was due on stage? It's time the stars respect their ticket-buying fans.
Gig of the week
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds' show at Her Majesty's Theatre in London, launching their 15th album Push the Sky Away, is among my top 10 gigs – and was rightly showered with five-star reviews. The band are on tour now until 1 November including three nights at Hammersmith Apollo beginning tomorrow.
Hot tickets
Lily Allen quit music for good in 2009, but she's changed her mind. Set to release her new album next year, the singer makes her return at Robbie Williams' show at the London Palladium on 8 November. Tickets go on sale on Monday.
