Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The Virginia-based singer and songwriter releases his second album, Fresh Blood, tomorrow. His coming tour of the UK will include a show at London’s Village Underground on 20 April.
Sunday
Watched a documentary about the 70’s Knick’s basketball team called When The Garden Was Eden, and tucked away the Spotify playlist for its accompanying soundtrack.
Monday
Continued to dig into a wonderful book about postwar Europe called Post War and listened to a bit of Scott Walker’s fifth solo album, Scott 4.
Tuesday
Watched Man On Wire, the documentary about a tight-rope walker who illegally strung a high-wire between the Twin Towers. I also listened to Bob Dylan’s 1965 album Bringing It All Back Home.
Wednesday
In the morning I listened to “The Times They Are A Changin’”, a record I am mildly obsessed with right now (also produced by Tom Wilson), watched Busby Berkeley Youtube videos and a documentary on the Improv Comedy Clubs.
Thursday
Tried watching Three Amigos! (Randy Newman wrote the songs) but I fell asleep.
Friday
Made a Spotify playlist for my upcoming tours – Can, the Zombies, the Stooges, John Lennon’s solo albums, Howlin’ Wolf and a bunch more.
Saturday
Listened to a Bobby Charles record and watched a great documentary about Hunter S Thompson.
