Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Spread across eight venues, from Town Hall to Bell Inn, the first English folk festival of 2013, and Cheltenham's 17th year, sports a handsome line-up including Bellowhead's Spiers and Boden (above) on Saturday, and rich English treasures from Belshazzar's Feast, who are part of Friday night's opening concert, with Fay Hield, Gavin Davenport with his new album The Bone Orchard, and KAN.
Much-loved veteran singer Nic Jones heads the closing concert with Jim Moray and the reformed Faustus on 10 February, and in between there's melodeon master Andy Cutting, The Morris On band, several streets full of Morris dancers, and Newcastle fiddler Tom McConville, who also leads one of the many workshops.
You'll also find singing sessions in the Bell Inn, the New Penguin Book of Folk Songs given an afternoon platform on 9 February, and an interview session with husband-and-wife Jon Boden and Fay Hield on 10 February at noon.
