Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

VOCALS: TEEDRA MOSES

She's an R'n'B singer who's also written for people like Christina Milian. I love her voice, it's a mix of jazz, R'n'B and gospel. She's got a lot of attitude. I love feisty singers.

BACKING VOCALS: I THREES

Bob Marley's backing singers looked like they were having so much fun. If I was ever reincarnated I would want to be one of them. All the harmonies are so beautiful and they really supported him.

DRUMS: MICHAEL SHREEVE

He played with Santana and drummed for them at Woodstock, where he performed an incredible solo during "Soul Sacrifice". We were shown that performance at The Brit School.

KEYBOARDS: BILL EVANS

His piano-playing is just amazing. My teacher told me the piano is not a percussive instrument: you play it the same way you would sing. When I first heard him, it definitely sounded like he was singing.

BASS: PINO PALLADINO

I've created such an odd band but, because he can play any style, he'll be able to hold it all together. He plays so simplistically but with so much groove, and that's what you need in a bass payer. To lock into everything and bring it all together.

Katy B plays Somerset House, London, on 8 July (www.somersethouse.org.uk/music)
