Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Lead vocals: Tom Chaplin

Keane are one of my biggest influences so it makes sense to have Tom as lead singer. He has such as incredible voice and an amazing range.

Lead Guitar & Backing Vocals: Jeff Buckley

Growing up, he was always being played at home so he's been a big inspiration. He was such a great talent and was also a multi-instrumentalist so he could help out with other additions such as the mandolin or the harmonica to add some colour to the overall sound.

Rhythm Guitar & Backing Vocals: KT Tunstall

She's great at using a loop pedal, which creates an amazing wall of sound. It would be interesting to hear her weave some intricate harmonies with the other vocalists.

Drums: Omar Hakim

Omar has drummed for loads of incredible artists in the past including Madonna, Sting and more recently on Daft Punk's “Get Lucky”. He features on the drums on some tracks on my new album so it would be great to see him in this band!

Birdy's album 'Fire Within' is out now through 14 Floor/Atlantic.
