Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

I love Flying Lotus's album Until the Quiet Comes. He makes wonky electronic music that has real soul. I think Efterklang make some of the most beautiful music of our times and they proved that yet again with their latest album Piramida. Kendrick Lamar's Good Kid, MAAD City is by far my favourite hip-hop album for some time. I listen to it loud, at home after the baby has gone to bed.
Film
Django Unchained from Quentin Tarantino, though unrelentingly gruesome, was the tensest and most truly cinematic film I have seen for some time. There are scenes which will remain with me forever.
Theatre
I went to Shoreditch Town Hall to see Lungs by Duncan Macmillan as part of the National Theatre's Roundabout Season. It's a universal story about a young couple contemplating having a baby and packed full of so many embarrassing truths. It jumps years instantly at a time – which managed to make this little play with just two actors conversing within a simple set seem incredibly epic.
Television
I've just finished season three of Boardwalk Empire, which I'm obsessed with.
