From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

'London Assurance' at the National Theatre is the funniest show I've seen in a long time. I was in pain from laughing. I also loved the combination of silliness, oddness and horrible, chilling violence in Roger Michell's production of 'Rope' at the Almeida, and not just because my boyfriend {Blake Ritson} was in it!
Television
I became hooked on 'In Treatment' which was so finely written and performed. Such a simple idea and yet it delved into very complex territory with real grace and humanity.
Music
I loved seeing the London Snorkelling Team recently at Kings Place. They classify themselves as playing cocktail/cartoon/crime/ space music they imagine happened in the 1950s, and the whole concert was set on an island in the Hebrides.
Books
I heard David Sedaris read live recently which was a complete delight. Few writers make me laugh out loud on the bus. He does. I was very moved and haunted by the spareness and elegance of W G Sebald's 'The Emigrants' which my dad lent me recently.
