Your support makes all the difference.Music: I'm on tour at the moment in the US so I don't get much time to myself. But during travelling time, from city to city, I've been listening to T-Pains' album 'Revolver' as well as Jill Scott's album 'The Light of the Sun' and a lot of Marvin Gaye's 'I Want You' album. Oh, and Citizen Cope's song "Sideways". I always want to remain inspired. I'm also loving the fact more people are hearing Afrobeats now. I've always been a fan of Nigerian artist D'banj. He's now signed to Kanye West's Good Music label. He has this great single called "Oliver Twist", which makes me want to dance when I hear it.
Film: I recently watched 'Love Jones'. I loved both Nia Long and Larenz Tate in it. Nia's character recites two poems by Sonia Sanchez – still after all this time, I love them. The soundtrack to this film was equally amazing. I also watched 'The Best Man' and 'I Will Follow' on DVD this month.
Books: I'm reading Keith Richards' autobiography 'Life'. I've just started it but it's already fascinating. I have always been intrigued with the dynamic between him and Mick Jagger. He doesn't hold back in the book.
Television: I always have to get my UK fix and 'Downton Abbey' is definitely that. I absolutely love period dramas but this one is particularly appealing – following the ins and outs of aristocracy as well as the interaction between the rich and the poor. The costumes are out of this world. I'm also watching 'Suburgatory' which provides me with light relief. It's all about this teenage girl who moves from the city to the suburbs. 'Modern Family' is quite comical and 'Read Between the Lines' stars Malcolm-Jamal Warner. I grew up watching him in 'The Cosby Show'.
