And rock brontosauri don't come much bigger than Led Zeppelin, headlining the Ahmet Ertegun tribute show at the 02 Arena, London (0871 984 0002) on 26 November. The billing as the first Zep show since their 1980 break-up is misleading: surviving members Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones, assisted by Jason Bonham (son of deceased drummer John), played Live Aid in 1985 and Atlantic Records' 40th birthday in 1988, while Page & Plant gigged together in the mid-90s. Nevertheless, the £125 tickets sold out in seconds, but you can probably pick one up on eBay for the approximate market value of Bron-Yr-Aur cottage itself.
Taking the view that anything boys can do, girls can do better, the Spice Girls cast 10 beady eyes over the success of Take That's reunion and decided to follow suit. Signs of disharmony have already appeared, however: Sporty has claimed she was bullied into it ("The others said that if I didn't join them, they were gonna do it anyway, and I didn't want to be the villain"). She'll be able to console herself with a share of an estimated 100 million quid for a world tour which includes 15 nights at the 02, starting on 15 December.
The 02 is becoming the home of nostalgic mega-concerts, and on 14 December, Madness will be concluding their UK tour (which begins on 6 Dec) by attempting to break the world record for assembling the largest number of shaven-headed cabbies of a certain age in one place.
The idea of performing a classic album from start to finish has proven a popular one in recent years, and The Human League have finally given in to the trend. They'll be touring Dare! their 1981 synth-pop masterpiece, starting at the Alban Arena, St Albans (01727 844488) on 25 November.
A smash'n'grab sell-out was always part of the Sex Pistols' scheme. Their third reunion, starting with five nights at Brixton Academy, London (08444 77 2000) on 8 November, should be a guilt-free blast for all concerned.
