Wilco show why they're the best live rock band in America right now with a clip from their forthcoming album, The Whole Love, which shows the band recording their new track, "Art of Almost", at their Loft Studios in Chicago.

The teaser, at YouTube tinyurl.com/ 3uqpwcd is short, but gives an inkling into the raw and visceral guitar to expect from Nels Cline. It bodes well for their eighth studio album, out on 26 September through the band's newly formed dBpm Records.

Gangsta's paradise

If you're a fan of tUnE-yArDs – the ingenious DIY project of New England-based Merrill Garbus – you'll know that one of the best songs on her second album, whokill, was "Gangsta". That song was taken to a new level when Garbus performed it with The Roots on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon two weeks ago, and now remixes of the track by hip-hop artists Adrock and Cut Chemist are being released on 12" . So unmistakeable are the beats on the free download 4AD are offering at tinyurl.com/3hxls8g that you can tell it's by a Beastie Boys member. Adrock's raised its hip-hop inspired sound into a tribal frenzy with Endtroducing-era DJ Shadow synths and some serious bass power.

More amazing Grace

Grace Jones's 2008 comeback album was a hit, and she's following it up with the dub version "Hurricane Dub", created by the producer Ivor Guest. Before its 5 September release there's a free download of "Well Well Well Dub", via Soundcloud at tinyurl.com/ 3cn6dgk. The album also boasts the best cover artwork I've seen in a while, in which creative partner Jean-Paul Goude captures the age-less star in a sparkly Philip Treacy hat.

Feist's new album Metals isn't out until October, but in the meantime 12 clips from the Chilly Gonzales, Mocky and Valgeir Sigurðsson-produced album are going up at www.listentofeist.com. I can't stop listening to the single "How Come You Never Go There", which can be listened to in full via Soundcloud tinyurl.com/3avz9tp It's a gloriously intimate pop gem to follow-up her Grammy-nominated The Reminder.

Good news for the End of the Road

It's easy to see why End of the Road Festival sold out in record time, with its rich Americana, folk and indie bill, featuring Joanna Newsom, Beirut, Midlake and Laura Marling. Hundreds of fans have been calling in with the hope of obtaining fair-price tickets and avoiding the touts.

The good news is that the festival has teamed up with the ticket exchange website thetickettrust.com, enabling festival-goers to sell on their tickets securely at face value, with no risk of fraud to buyers.
