Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The 2016 Brit Awards take place at London's O2 tonight, Britain's best effort at its own version of the Grammys but generally with more of a pop leaning.

It's being broadcast live on ITV1 as ever - always making for entertaining hiccups, tumbles from plinths in vertiginous heels and general schadenfreude - and has landed a pretty A-list performer line-up.

Adele, Rihanna, Justin Bieber and Coldplay will all be on stage, along with The Weeknd, Little Mix, Jess Glynne and James Bay. Ant and Dec are hosting, as they will ever year until 2388 when new Ant and Decs are replicated in an ITV laboratory.

It kicks off at 8pm, with the Brits' Facebook page live-streaming the red carpet beforehand. I'll be at the O2, typing away and keeping you updated (below) while getting my face roasted by 'Where Are Ü Now'.

*PLEASE WAIT A SECOND FOR THE LIVE BLOG TO LOAD*
