Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. It's new music Monday, so here's something new from Danish singer songwriter Alex Vargas.
His latest single 'Higher Love' is a beaut - and the video to go with it is just as good (apparently he was nervous about the dancing).

Q&A with Alex Vargas
What does Higher Love mean to you?
Ultimately it is about giving yourself to someone else despite fear of something going wrong. Trusting that the bond between you is stronger than any obstacle you might meet.
What were you trying to achieve with the video?
I wanted to challenge myself to try and express an emotion in a way I'm not used to. I barely dance at parties, so having to do it with people watching me was quite terrifying to be honest.
Another aspect to the challenge was having to do it for 10 straight hours. The resulting effect it had on my mind was thrilling. It was a strange mix of being completely exhausted and really enjoying it.
What can we expect from you in the future?
MORE DANCING! Maybe... I'm working on my album. It's really exciting seeing it come together. It's really starting to take shape.
What are you listening to at the moment?
Solange's recent album is beautiful. I'm also obsessed with Christine and the Queens.
