From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Toronto rapper dropped the highly-anticipated 20-track album during a special episode of OVO Sound Radio late Thursday night.
During the episode, Drake chopped it up with host Zane Lowe and discussed the album's theme, plans of a collaborative mixtape with his neighbor Kanye West, his upcoming acting roles and how he no longer speaks to Nicki Minaj.
"The album is based around the changes of the seasons in our city [of Toronto]. It starts in the winter time," Drake said. "It's just to show you the two extreme moods that we have. We're grateful for our summers, and we make our winter's hot."
He added that the album is also a constant stream of his emotions, focusing more on himself rather than the people around him: “I’m a very honest person. I can’t write fiction.”
Earlier in the day, Drake shared the album's production credits on Instagram, which features Kanye West, "40," Metro Boomin, Southside, nineteen85 and many others.
