Letters: Internet switch-off
Your support helps us to tell the story
In my reporting on women's reproductive rights, I've witnessed the critical role that independent journalism plays in protecting freedoms and informing the public.
Your support allows us to keep these vital issues in the spotlight. Without your help, we wouldn't be able to fight for truth and justice.
Every contribution ensures that we can continue to report on the stories that impact lives

Internet switch-off
Sir: It is not only UK companies that need to wake up to information technology (letters, 20 September); the Government needs to do so as well.
There is more to the Internet and the digital economy than getting some company to create a web site for you which, in the absence of any real understanding of its purpose, is not kept up-to-date, and the adding of an e-mail address to the your company's letterhead.
On 10 September I applied to the DVLA for a photocard driving licence. I completed forms D46 and D750. D750 had an accompanying instruction leaflet (INS 108) which left me confused, so I availed myself of the facility provided to get additional information, namely, E-mail on: enquiry.dvla@gtnet. gov.uk.
Two minutes later there was a reply, unfortunately only to tell me that the address I wanted was drivers.dvla@gtnet.gov.uk .
I re-addressed my cry for help but, 10 days later, nothing. That is the real problem that has to be solved; the Internet side is easy.
