Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Latitude, the UK’s favourite multi-arts festival, returns for its seventh edition in 2012, between 12 - 15th July, at Henham Park in Suffolk.

This acclaimed festival delivers the very best established and emerging talent from the worlds of music, comedy, theatre, cabaret, dance, poetry, literature, art and fashion.

With bespoke performances set across the beautiful Henham Park estate, Latitude takes advantage of the surrounding woodland and lake to showcase its artists like no other festival. Highlights this year include music headliners Bon Iver, Elbow and Paul Weller, plus Laura Marling, Richard Hawley, Janelle Monae, Lana Del Rey, Ben Howard, Rufus Wainwright and his band and world famous concert pianist Lang Lang.

Comedy comes from Tim Minchin, Jack Dee, Greg Davies and The Infinite Monkey Cage, while celebrated author Siri Hustvedt joins the literary line-up alongside esteemed authors Iain Banks, John Pilger, WordTheatre and more. With poetry from Benjamin Zephaniah, John Cooper Clarke and Tim Key, to name a few, and internationally renowned performances from Sadler’s Wells, Matthew Bourne’s Early Adventures, National Theatre, BAFTA and The Opera Group, Latitude is much more than just a music festival.
