Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Armed with just a microphone and a loop pedal, Intensi-T makes astonishing beats just with his mouth. See him to believe him.

Which latitude are you on right now?

I’m in Whitechapel at CM Studios, rehearsing, rehearsing, rehearsing!

Sum up what you do for us in one sentence for anyone who might not know…

Music made entirely from the mouth live on stage with a looping machine with vocals on top (even though it’s all vocal anyway?!)

If you could give us one hot tip for who to see at Latitude what would it be?

I guess I should recommend myself, because I don't know the rest of the line-up yet!

Do you have any pre-show rituals?

Blowing raspberries before going on stage is essential to a good performance and also jumping up and down on the spot.

What’s your best festival story for us?

I remember I was booked to play Latitude in 2010 before anyone knew who Ed Sheeran was, so he wasn't allowed into my dressing room for the free drinks so we had to smuggle it past the security and fill his cups up! There's a video of this happening on YouTube somewhere.

Tell us a something you’ve never told an interviewer before…

I’m a hip-hop-apotomus, my lyrics are bottomless

What’s your signature cooking dish?

I make a pretty tasty sweet and sour chicken with rice. Haven't made it in ages though

What’s the best thing about performing live?

I love seeing people’s faces when I make this one particular sound, that sounds so unnatural, I don't even know myself how it's possible to create it but it is… it sounds like a transformer!

What book/film/record etc. changed your life and why?

Recently, The Impossible, I saw it in the cinema and it was really moving. It made me remember that love is the most important thing in life

Knock Knock, who’s there?

"Boo"

“Boo who?”

"There’s no need to cry, it’s only a joke”

I learnt this when I was five in a fun fax joke book.

And lastly, summarise Latitude in three words

Big happy party.
