From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

ON THE CUSP of deserved critical acclaim, Faithless (right) have added another leg to their UK tour. It's been a good year for the band - having scooped the Best Live Act gong at the Muzik Awards, they were close contenders for the MTV Best Dance Award, but were pipped by Prodigy. Described by our critic as "one of the most invigorating bands today... nothing short of inspirational".

AFTER THE success of their debut albums on World Circuit Records and acclaimed live performances in Europe, Ruben Gonzalez and The Afro-Cuban All Stars are the hottest acts on the Latin, Jazz and World Music circuit. The Cuban double bill have added an extra night to their first UK dates, with veteran pianist Gonzalez to be accompanied by fellow Grammy award-winning Ibrahim Ferrer, who added warmth to Ry Cooder's guitars on the million- selling album.
