From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

UNISON, ONE OF Britain's largest unions, is organising a spring concert under the banner Campaign for a Living Wage. Given the vagaries of the English climate, the acts have sensibly opted to perform in a weather-proof indoor arena. Even better, ticket prices are pegged at the under-22s minimum wage rate of pounds 3. The line-up of bands, which is well-balanced and sure to be crowd-pleasing includes Ash, The Divine Comedy (right), Space, Travis and Swedish band Fungus.

YOU HAVE UNTIL Saturday to see Certain Young Men, one of the sharpest, most acutely observed plays in recent theatre history. Directed by its writer, Peter Gill, it showcases the finest acting in London from the entire eight-strong male cast. In Chekhov, the characters are so strong that everyone seems like the leading player and the same is true here. Thanks to an extraordinary attention to detail, this mature study of relationships leaps into focus as we are plunged into a world of men from the formerly married to the profoundly mixed-up.
