Your support makes all the difference.Actress Reese Witherspoon has obtained the rights to the life story of jazz/pop singer Peggy Lee, best-known for her sultry hit song "Fever" from 1958.
Witherspoon will produce and star in the film, playing on her musical talent. She won an Oscar for her portrayal of singer June Carter, Johnny Cash's wife in 2005's Walk the Line.
Nora Ephron ( Julie & Julia, Sleepless in Seattle) is attached to write the screenplay and direct the project. The story will explore Lee's professional and personal life, according to entertainment trade publication Variety.
Next up, Witherspoon will be seen in the romantic-comedy How Do You Know with Paul Rudd and Jack Nicholson by The Simpsons director James Brooks, due in North American theaters December 17. She also just completed the drama Water for Elephants with Robert Pattinson and Christoph Walz arriving next April.
With her upcoming schedule, it is unclear when the Peggy Lee biopic will head into production. Witherspoon has at least two more films scheduled for 2011, including This Means War with Chris Pine ( Star Trek) and The Master with Jeremy Renner and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
