From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

On the day before the Academy Award nominations were announced, the Razzies revealed the contenders of the worst films of 2010, with The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and The Last Airbender leading with nine nominations each.

The Worst Picture nominees are The Bounty Hunter, The Last Airbender, Sex and the City 2, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and, ironically, Vampires Suck, a film that parodies the Twilight films.

The 31st annual Razzies will salute the winners of the worst in film on February 21, the day before the Oscars ceremony. The public can join the membership and cast a vote - for a fee of $35.

Only a few films received the majority of the nominations, such as Clash of the Titans and Sex & The City 2, which were blockbusters, but films that flopped were also recognized, including romantic-action-comedy The Bounty Hunter, starring Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler.

Films like M. Night Shyamalan's fantasy adventure The Last Airbender were taken to task by critics for poor 3D conversion - what the Razzies call "The Worst Eye-Gouging Mis-Use of 3D."

The Worst Actor nominees include Ashton Kutcher for Killers and Valentine's Day, while Worst Actress choices include Megan Fox for Jonah Hex, Miley Cyrus for The Last Song, and the four leading women of Sex and the City 2.

Up for Worst Supporting Actress are Cher in Burlesque, plus other divas Liza Minnelli and Barbara Streisand, and Jessica Alba with a list of a few "bad movies," from Machete to Valentine's Day. Worst Supporting Actor nods include Rob Schneider for Grown Ups.

Other dishonor nods include Little Fockers' screenplay, Sylvester Stallone for directing The Expendables and Josh Brolin's face in Jonah Hex.

Last year, Sandra Bullock ironically won both a Razzie for her role in All About Steve and an Oscar for The Blind Side. Showing a keen sense of humor, she accepted a Golden Raspberry trophy in person.
