Your support makes all the difference.Oscar and Grammy-winning producer T Bone Burnett ( Crazy Heart) and composer Danny Elfman, who scores Tim Burton's films, will team up for the first time to produce the upcoming soundtrack of the sci-fi adventure film The Hunger Games.
Based on the bestselling book by Suzanne Collins, part of a young adult trilogy, The Hunger Games is described as "sophisticated, cerebral, soulful and rebellious," according to the film studio's statement.
The story follows a young girl who participates in a survival contest in order to save her community in a dystopian future.
"We needed a composer who can translate these qualities musically, and we have not one but two incredible artists," said Lionsgate's head of film music Tracy McKnight, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Burnett ( Crazy Heart, Walk the Line) will serve as executive music producer and create songs for the film. He has 12 Grammy Awards, including one for the album Raising Sand, a collaboration between Robert Plant and Allison Krauss.
Elfman will score the film. He has composed Tim Burton's films from Edward Scissorhands to Alice in Wonderland, as well as Spider-Man, Mission: Impossible and Terminator Salvation, plus television theme songs for The Simpsons and Desperate Housewives.
The impressive cast for The Hunger Games features Jennifer Lawrence ( Winter's Bone) and Josh Hutcherson ( The Kids Are All Right).
Costars include Elizabeth Banks ( W), Woody Harrelson ( 2012), Stanley Tucci ( The Lovely Bones) and veteran actor Donald Sutherland. The film is directed by Gary Ross ( Seabiscuit).
The highly anticipated film will release in North America, the UK and Germany on March 22-23, 2012.
