The latter's tale of two love-struck cops has become one of his most celebrated pieces, while Ashes of Time applied his visionary quality to a star-studded foray into martial arts. Happy Together is perhaps his most left-field offering, dealing as it does with the adventures of an expatriate gay couple from Hong Kong living in Buenos Aires. The only elephant in the room is why In the Mood For Love and 2046 didn't make the cut, but the director's earlier work is sure to get plugged-in audiences rushing back for more.
