The film focuses on the paper's media desk – and especially the wonderfully cranky David Carr – as it tackled stories including the WikiLeaks Collateral Murder film, the bankruptcy of the Tribune news company and the end of the war in Iraq.
Woven within it is a history of the Times and a look at the role it, and other papers, such as the diminished Washington Post, have played in American politics. It's possibly a film for journalists as much as one about journalism, but it's no less intriguing for that.
