The Frenchman plays Mohammed, a stranded Afghan (or otherwise) insurgent who kills three US soldiers to save his own life and is subsequently: deafened by a bomb; hauled to a camp for extraordinary rendition; and allowed to escape during a bus crash on a prison transfer. From then on it's an hour of his dialogue-free struggle to survive in frosty eastern European countryside. Mohammed's tale is told without moralising (he's just as brutal as the US waterboarders) and although the plot is preposterous (for instance, why did ALL the US marines leave the crash site without a head count?), it's stylishly done by Skolimowski.
