Despite its $180m budget, Guillermo del Toro's actioner looks a bit cheap. Charlie Hunnam, the lunk who's quite sensibly just pulled out of the Fifty Shades adaptation, plays an ex-fighter pilot tasked by Idris Elba's commander with defeating some alien monstrosities known as Kaiju. This is badly scripted claptrap that might just gain cult appeal in 30 years.
