This election is still a dead heat, according to most polls. In a fight with such wafer-thin margins, we need reporters on the ground talking to the people Trump and Harris are courting. Your support allows us to keep sending journalists to the story.

The Independent is trusted by 27 million Americans from across the entire political spectrum every month. Unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock you out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. But quality journalism must still be paid for.

"It's a pretty immature film but it made me laugh and reminded me of being at school. Still, I'd be just as happy watching a box set of the TV series at home. I'm surprised it's done so well but good for them, I guess."

"The Inbetweeners Movie reminds of my youth, when a kiss or a smile from the opposite sex excited me and I kept dreaming about it for a long time."

"It was quite predictable and I didn't like the ending that much. In the series, every episode ends in frustration, foiled plans and disappointment. While the film was obviously never going to end in the same way, it felt just a bit too contrived and outlandish for me. That said, I did really enjoy it,and it's one of the best comedies I've seen in the cinema for a long time – the T-shirts, the dancing, and Simon being dumped at the start and jumping out of the boat at the end were personal highlights."

Martin Nicholas

"I've recently returned from living in Canada for six years, so my guilty secret is that I've never watched an episode of The Inbetweeners. My (Canadian) wife and I bit the bullet and saw the film last night – fundamentally, we both really enjoyed it. I had gleaned enough from the trailer to know you have to approach it with the wonderful misplaced hormones and sensibilities of the juvenile... Of course, the incidents and scenarios are magnified versions of cringing adolescent moments most of us can relate to..."

Tom Quinn

"The lads off on holiday to Crete is very funny."

Tina Bush

"This film is really made for the fans of the TV show and they won't be disappointed. That said, if you hadn't seen the show you could still appreciate it for what it is – a great British teen comedy, which is something that hasn't been done before. It's not going to win any Oscars and it's completely juvenile but, hey, what did you expect? This film does exactly what it says on this tin and I couldn't be happier. It's always a risk, making film adaptations of hugely successful TV shows (case in point: Kevin and Perry Go Large) but judging by the film's record-breaking first week this is one risk that has really paid off."
