Despite that title, though, Kennedy doesn't appear except on TV screens, and the criss-crossing ensemble drama is influenced just as much by another Robert - the late Mr Altman. It all takes place in the Ambassador Hotel on the day of Kennedy's assassination.
Among the stars who play the hotel's staff and guests, there's William H Macy as the manager, Sharon Stone as the hair stylist, Anthony Hopkins as a retired doorman, Laurence Fishburne as a chef, and Demi Moore, Lindsay Lohan, Ashton Kutcher and the director's dad, Martin Sheen, in other roles. Unfortunately, they're all just mouthpieces for tub-thumping speeches. It makes you wish you were watching a biopic of Robert Kennedy instead.
