Capote (2005)
The film that won him the Best Actor Oscar and confirmed his status as one of the greatest actors of his generation. Hoffman played the lead in this portrait of the author Truman Capote, depicting the writing of the classic true crime book In Cold Blood.
Charlie Wilson's War (2007)
Hoffman received another three Oscar nominations. His role as maverick agent Gus Avrakotos in the 2007 CIA-in-Afghanistan romp Charlie Wilson's War won him a nominated for Best Supporting Actor.
The Master (2012)
Appearing alongside Joaquin Phoenix, Hoffman received acclaim and an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor in his role as a charismatic religious writer who befriends a struggling Second World War veteran and draws him into what many suspect to be a cult.
