The theme park climax, the zany rules for survival upheld by the characters and one of the greatest cameos in cinema (two words: Bill Murray) all assisted in shrouding Zombieland with cult status. However, talk of a long-gestating sequel seemed more unlikely with every passing year.
Until now: ComicBook reports that a logo for a follow-up film was released at CinemaCon last week confirming that Zombieland 2 is officially a go at Sony.
Very few details are known other than the film's original scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are on board with added Dave Callaham (Godzilla) while Reuben Fleischer will also return to direct. It's a busy time for the writing duo who are also on sequel-writing duties for the now confirmed Deadpool 2.
Zombieland starred Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin as survivors of a zombie apocalypse who take a road trip in a bid to find a sanctuary.
Eisenberg recently spoke out about the critically-mauled Batman v Superman claiming retroactive 'editorial choices' affected his character Lex Luthor's position in the story.
