From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Amazon is broadening its ever-expanding repertoire by releasing the latest film from Woody Allen.

The octogenarian is releasing his as-of-yet untitled picture this summer backed by the online streaming service.

There is no current distributor attached, although it is believed that Sony Pictures Releasing - who has released Allen's films since 2008 - won't be attached. The deal will see the film become available for Prime customers following its cinema release.

The film will arrive ahead of Allen's new TV show he is currently writing for Amazon Prime, a decision he branded a "catastrophic mistake" at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival.

The film is a 1930s-set comedy starring Kristen Stewart, Steve Carell and Blake Lively while the TV series is set to star himself alongside singer Miley Cyrus (really).

"Amazon Studios head Roy Price said: "Woody Allen is a brilliant filmmaker. We're so proud to be in business with him for both his next film and his first-ever TV series."

Amazon Studios has previously found success with TV shows Transparent and Mozart in the Jungle. It recently ventured to Sundance Film Festival where it entered the bidding war for some of the most hotly anticipated films.

Allen's last film was the comedy-drama Irrational Man starring Joaquin Phoenix and Jamie Blackley; in 2013, he released Blue Jasmine steering Cate Blanchett to Oscar glory when she picked up Best Actress.
