Your support makes all the difference.The first trailer for Wonder Woman 1984 has been released, and shows the superhero facing a number of new villains – but also reunited with some old friends.
The clip opens with a scene showing Kirsten Wiig's character, who will play Wonder Woman's archenemy Cheetah, asking Wonder Woman if she has ever been in love.
"A long, long time ago," she answers. "You?"
"So many times. Yeah, all the time," Wiig's character answers.
Over a reworked version of the classic Eighties track "Blue Money", various clips show Wonder Woman landing in a shopping mall as people flee, encountering Steve (Chris Pine), and possibly returning to her island home of Themyscira.
Pedro Pascal is also shown as the evil Maxwell Lord, who is heard in a TV commercial during the trailer: "Welcome to the future! Life is good, but it could be better. And why not? All you have to do is want it! Think about having everything you've always wanted."
The character is also shown in an ominous scene handling a mysterious crystal, with an overdub of his voice adding the sinister: "I take what I want in return."
The movie marks Wonder Woman's fourth appearance in the DC Comics franchise, following Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, the first Wonder Woman film in 2017, and Justice League, which was released a few months after.
Appearing at Comic Con in Brazil, Gadot told fans that the new movie begins at a time when Wonder Woman is "quite lonely, she's lost all of her friends over the years, and she's doing what she needs to do".
Wonder Woman 1984 is scheduled for release on 5 June 2020.
