In a brand new interview with The Independent, the actor – who stars in new film Midsommar – revealed it would a be a "dream" to play the US rap star, but insisted he thinks it would be "inappropriate" for him to do so.
“I’m a big fan of hip hop so if there was ever another film about Eminem, that would be a dream role for me," he said, adding: "But I don’t think it would be appropriate, so I’d settle for a supporting role."
Referencing the 15-year-old who went viral after performing "Thiago Silva" with rapper Dave at Glastonbury last weekend, Poulter added: "Alex from Glastonbury’s probably already got the offer, though, so if he turns it down, I’ll be able to audition.”
Music biopics are currently all the rage following the success of Bohemian Rhapsody – which won Rami Malek a Best Actor Oscar at this year's ceremony – and Elton John film Rocketman, which has been one of the biggest hits of 2019.
Next up will be Starman, a film based on the life of David Bowie starring Lovesick star Johnny Flynn, and an untitled Elvis Presley film directed by Baz Luhrmann. Earlier this week, it was reported that Harry Styles, Miles teller, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Ansel Elgort were in the running for the lead.
Poulter's new film, Midsommar, is in cinemas now – and he revealed to The Independent that there's one particular scene that unlocks the horror's biggest mysteries.
