From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Whether you liked or disliked Warcraft is neither here nor there - it's done mega business at the box office and, in the eyes of the studio, that's all that counts.

In fact, such is the film's profit that it's surpassed Prince of Persia to become the highest-grossing video game adaptation of all time.

With thanks to Box Office Mojo, we can see that the film has already made a staggering $3776.6 million in the global box office; what's more impressive is that Duncan Jones' film is only set to build on that figure considering it's only in its third week of release (Persia made $336 across its entire run).

It seems the negative reviews failed to dampen audience's spirits, especially in countries outside of the UK and US - specifically Japan where, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Warcraft made over $200 million.

The film received renewed publicity last week following the surfacing of an interview which saw a British journalist take filmmaker Jones to task on the film.

Video game adaptation Warcraft stars Dominic Cooper, Toby Kebbell and Paula Patton.

It was recently announced that Persia star Jake Gyllenhaal is returning to the video game realm with an adaptation of Ubisoft's record-breaking The Division.
