From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Cinematic Universes are the 'done thing' at the moment in Hollywood. Marvel started off the trend back in 2008 with Iron Man back, with DC Comics and Terminator soon following suit (although the later has since been abandoned).

Hasbro Studios have thrown their hat into the ring, as their president Stephen Davis has announced Transformers 5, 6, 7 and 8 are currently in the works as well as a TV series.

At a keynote speech in Cannes he said: “Well, you’re going to see a new Transformers movie coming from Hasbro and Paramount and Michael Bay and our other partners.”

“We decided that we wanted to plot out the next 10 years of the Transformers franchise, so we got together in a room over a three-month period of time.

“[We have] plotted out the next 10 years of Transformers. Similarly, we are doing the same in television and in digital. So stay tuned, Transformers 5 is on its way, and 6 and 7 and 8.”

The last Transformers film, Age of Extinction, was a massive box office success, making $1.104 million worldwide, with a huge taking in China. Michael Bay is set to return as producer and director for the sequel.

These latest announcements come as no shock, as many other films studios have set out long-term plans for franchises. Marvel’s has been the most successful, having spawned off a number of TV shows and movies.

Transformers 5, as it is currently titles, has a release date of 2017
