The moment in question arrives as part of the fake outtakes featured in the 1999 film’s credits. It shows the Stinky Pete – voiced by Kelsey Grammar – suggestively stroking the hands of two Barbie dolls while telling them he could try to get them a big part in the next Toy Story film.
At the time, the scene may not have made many people bat an eyelid, however, in recent years – due to the MeToo movement – it’s become apparent that Hollywood has an issue with older men in power sexually harassing those in lesser positions in exchange for better career prospects.
Most prominently, these allegations were levied against disgraced film producer Harvey Weinstein. Toy Story 2 director John Lasseter was also accused of misconduct and went on to part ways with Disney at the end of 2018, referring to “missteps” in his behaviour towards colleagues.
Pixar quietly deleted the scene, but has since been pointed out on Reddit. According to Rereleasenews.com, the scene no longer appears on new releases of the Blu-ray or download versions of the film.
Toy Story 4 is in cinemas now.
