From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Tom Holland and Jake Gyllenhaal have named their favourite film from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The actors, who appear in new film Spider-Man: Far From Home, were being interviewed when they were asked to make the pick omitting both Spider-Man films.

Without a beat, Holland said: “I like Thor: Ragnarok” with Gyllenhaal chiming in: “I was just about to say that.”

The pair join fellow Marvel actors Don Cheadle and Paul Rudd who also selected Taika Waititi’s 2017 sequel when asked the same question in previous interviews.

The critically-acclaimed Thor: Ragnarok stars Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Tessa Thompson and Cate Blanchett.

Director Waititi also cameoed in the film as Korg, a character he returned as in Avengers: Endgame.

Spider-Man: Far From Home serves as a direct sequel to Endgame, the ending of which Holland spoiled for viewers of The Graham Norton Show last week.

The new film, which also stars Zendaya, Jon Favreau and Samuel L Jackson, is released in cinemas on 2 July.
